Areas of expertise:

  • Trauma

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • BIPOC and diaspora

  • LGBTQ+ affirming care

  • Decolonial psychotherapy

Approach:

Drawing from liberation psychology, somatic practices, trauma-informed care, and relational psychodynamic therapy, I will support you in recontextualizing your past experiences to create new meanings. We can’t fix the world on our own, but together we can build hope and imagination for new, liberatory possibilities.

There is no true self-knowledge that is not an acknowledgement of one’s origins, one’s community identity, and one’s own history.
— Ignacio Martín-Baró

Who I help:

I am passionate about working with adolescents and adults, especially queer people, trans people, and people of color. I work with individuals healing from generational and relational trauma, ongoing systemic injustices, and attachment wounds that continue to impact their sense of safety, self-trust, and connection with others, their community, and themselves.

How I help:

Therapy with me focuses on creating a safe holding space for all parts of you, including the parts of yourself that have been shamed, deemed less worthy, and marginalized. You can expect a collaborative, grounded space where your experiences are taken seriously and your full complexity is welcomed. Together, we will explore the patterns, histories, and systems that shape your life while supporting you in reconnecting with your strengths, cultural wisdom, and capacity for healing.

What my clients say about working with me:

Clients describe my presence as emotionally attuned and thoughtful. My hope is that clients leave my office feeling empowered, with new insights about themselves and the environments and experiences that have shaped them.

Off the clock:

I enjoy connecting with my culture through dance, playing guitar, reading, and engaging in local activism.

Dana has telehealth and in-person openings.
